Welcome back to school. This will be a busy month for kindergarten. We will lead the liturgy at Mass on Jan. 11th. Our penguin day is Jan. 20th and we will be going on a field trip on Jan. 25th to the ice rink with our eight grade buddy class. We also celebrate the 100th day of school Jan. 27th. This is the month we begin our spelling and math addition tests.
Remember Catholic School Week begins with Mass and open house Sunday January 29th.
Its official YES kindergarten likes school! Kindergarten voted on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. On the ballet was the question “Do you like school?” the count was “Yes” 22 and “NO” 1. Majority rules and we are happy for such a great turn out.
Coming up in November the kindergarten pancake breakfast.
Kindergarten finished the Noah’s Ark chapter in our Faith First religion curriculum. My class earned how God made a promise to Noah and the symbol of God’s love for Noah is a rainbow. As the students colored, cut, and glued pictures of animals entering the ark they enjoyed eating animal crackers.
Kindergarten had their apple tasting today. There were slices of red and delicious, gold and delicious, and green granny smith to sample. The decision of what was their favorite began. Students colored a cutout apple red, green or yellow to graph. The favorite was the gold and delicious, with granny smith coming in the less favorite.
- Kindergarten learned about apples and how they grow from seed to fruit. We are looking forward to apple tasting this week and graphing the apples we like best. Yummy!!
- We will begin our phonics component in our Journeys Language Arts Curriculum this month.
- In our, Faith First, religion curriculum we are learning about Noah’s Ark and God’s promise to Noah. We will have fun eating animal crackers during art activities as the animals enter the ark.
On Friday 9/9/16 the Kindergarten class will experience their five senses through hands on activities at the Five Senses Centers.
