Bishop’s Ministry Appeal helps to sustain our numerous diocesan ministries which provide for the educational and spiritual needs of thousands of families every year.


The BMA makes it possible for us to continue the important mission of evangelization through our ministries -

  • proclaiming the Gospel;
  • celebrating the sacraments;
  • educating our children;
  • serving our parish and school communities and
  • caring for our priests and religious.


If we truly profess Jesus as Lord of our lives, this includes every aspect of our lives, even our time, our talent and that of our treasure. Sharing of our “treasure” is a way of expressing our gratitude to God for all the gifts He has bestowed upon us – we acknowledge that everything we have comes from God, and we offer it back to Him for His glory.

How The BMA Helps Our Parish:

Bishop's Office

Bishop Cotta provides leadership and support for our parish school. He visits Presentation School and presides over Mass at least once a year and visits classrooms as his schedule allows. He is also the presider for our 8th grade Confirmation Mass. On the business end, he approves a minimum diocesan pay scale for our staff to help schools stay competitive with the public schools. His message to the student leaders at this year's Catholic Schools Week Mass was, "You can have straight A's but if you aren't compassionate, or caring, or bear the light of Jesus to everyone you meet, your grades mean nothing."

Bishop's Office

Ana Maria Franco, the Executive Assistant to the Vicar General, Episcopal Vicar, and Chancellor, sends out the annual October Mass count spreadsheet and has helped us in working with the formulas. We work with the Bishop's office to schedule the Confirmation Masses and to seek delegation for emergency Confirmations.

Catholic Schools Office

Marian Graham provides leadership, direction, and support for Pastors and Principals. She meets with principals monthly and oversees diocesan school events such as the Beginning of the Year Diocesan School Staff Workshop and Mass. She works on salary scales for the teachers and presents them to Bishop Cotta for approval. She works with parents who have called the diocesan office with school concerns. She keeps schools up to date on the latest information for illness, trends, etc. Marian also also facilitates the SEEDS and Stagnaro Scholarships. She also oversees our EdJoin account and sends employment applications to principals as they are submitted.

Catholic Schools Office

Judee Sani heads professional development for diocesan teachers as well as the New Teacher Monthly meetups. She is a resource for ARK Religion Testing and STAR Math and Reading Standardized Assessments. She serves as the Western Catholic Education Association Commissioner and assists schools as they go through the accreditation process. She is also a resource for curriculum purchasing and continued implementation.

Catholic Schools Office

Jamie Bondoc works with schools to create marketing materials and other avenues to boost enrollment.

Clergy Services

The office of Clergy Services provide our clergy with ongoing formation, training, retreats, and guidance. They also follow up on letters of suitability for visiting clergy who come to celebrate funerals and weddings.

Communications

Marriage preparation documents and resources on the diocesan website offer insights and answers to questions that we share with couples who are preparing to marry in the Church.

Development & Stewardship

The Office of Development and Stewardship provides resources and materials for the BMA and Capital Campaign. They also provide up-to-date tracking of pledges, gifts, and balances.

Evangelization and Faith Formation

The Office of Evangelization & Faith Formation holds monthly meetings to share information and updates on guidelines for the Sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation. They also provide spiritual retreats and formation for catechists, ministry directors, and coordinators. They work with us on our curriculum and help with presentations by various publishers.

Human Resources

The Human Resources Department ensures our parish is up-to-date with HR related materials and resources. They work with us to ensure we are in compliance with local and state employment guidelines. Additionally, they work with our parish on the Safe Environment program, to protect the safety of the children and vulnerable in our community.

Liturgy and Worship Office

They are very helpful in answering questions and clarifying points. Areas of expertise they have assisted us with are sacraments (especially guidance on protocol for special circumstances) and special liturgies. They offer training for ministers to coordinate the OCIA program and remain up to date with the current norms promulgated by the USCCB.

School of Ministry

The School of Ministry offers resources to share with our parishioners for ongoing adult formation in many different areas of spiritual growth.

Tribunal Office (Marriage)

The Marriage Tribunal is providing a workshop to go over the updated requirements on forms, documents, and processes that parishes need for the Sacrament of Marriage. In turn, we will be well-informed and able to assist couples looking to receive the sacrament and commit to the vocation of marriage. Additionally, they provide training and guidance on annulments.

    The Bishop’s Ministry Appeal helps sustain the parishes, programs, and ministries of the Diocese of Stockton through the Bishop’s Ministry Appeal Trust. Once a year, Catholics throughout the Diocese of Stockton are asked to support these ministries by giving to the Bishop’s Ministry Appeal Trust. Their support plays a key role in advancing the mission of the Church both within and beyond the boundaries of their parishes.

    What is the Bishop’s Ministry Appeal?

    The BMA is an annual campaign to raise funds that support the programs and ministries serving the educational, physical and spiritual needs of the people of the Diocese of Stockton.

     

    Is it important to give to the BMA even though I already give to my parish?

    The Diocese takes responsibility for certain specialized ministries and services that no one single parish can provide.

Cómo Ayuda la BMA a Nuestra Parroquia:

Oficina del Obispo

El Obispo Cotta brinda liderazgo y apoyo a nuestra escuela parroquial. Visita la Escuela Presentation y preside la Misa al menos una vez al año, además de visitar las aulas según lo permita su agenda. También es el celebrante de la Misa de Confirmación de octavo grado. En el ámbito administrativo, aprueba una escala salarial diocesana mínima para nuestro personal con el fin de ayudar a las escuelas a mantenerse competitivas con las escuelas públicas. Su mensaje a los líderes estudiantiles en la Misa de la Semana de las Escuelas Católicas de este año fue: "Puedes tener calificaciones perfectas, pero si no eres compasivo, atento o llevas la luz de Jesús a todos los que conoces, tus calificaciones no significan nada."

Oficina del Obispo

Ana María Franco, Asistente Ejecutiva del Vicario General, Vicario Episcopal y Canciller, envía la hoja de cálculo del conteo anual de Misas en octubre y nos ha ayudado con el uso de las fórmulas. Trabajamos con la oficina del Obispo para programar las Misas de Confirmación y solicitar delegación para Confirmaciones de emergencia.

Oficina de Escuelas Católicas

Marian Graham brinda liderazgo, dirección y apoyo a los párrocos y directores. Se reúne mensualmente con los directores y supervisa eventos diocesanos escolares como el Taller y la Misa de Inicio del Año Escolar Diocesano. Asimismo, supervisa nuestra cuenta de EdJoin y envía solicitudes de empleo a los directores conforme se presentan.

Oficina de Escuelas Católicas

Judee Sani lidera el desarrollo profesional de los maestros diocesanos y coordina los encuentros mensuales para nuevos docentes. Es un recurso para las pruebas de Religión ARK y las evaluaciones estandarizadas STAR de Matemáticas y Lectura. Además, actúa como Comisionada de la Western Catholic Education Association y asiste a las escuelas en sus procesos de acreditación.     La Solicitud Ministerial del Obispo ayuda a mantener las parroquias, programas y ministerios de la Diócesis de Stockton por medio del Fideicomiso de la Solicitud Ministerial del Obispo.


    Una vez al año, se pide a los católicos de toda la Diócesis de Stockton que apoyen estos ministerios donando al Fideicomiso de la Solicitud Ministerial del Obispo. Su apoyo juega un papel clave en el avance de la misión de la Iglesia dentro y fuera de las fronteras de sus parroquias.

BMA 2024

Prayerful Giving 


We want to thank you for your generous and heartfelt donations to the 2024 BMA. With your support, we exceeded our 2024 BMA goal by $33,024, which has been refunded to our parish by the diocese! The refund that we received will be used to help fund deferred maintenance projects such as replacing the carpets at the Ministry Center (some of which is about 70 years old as it is original to the building). The refund that we will receive from the diocese for the 2025 campaign will also go towards deferred maintenance projects. Thank you again, and God bless you all for your generosity.

The 2024 Bishop's Ministry Appeal (BMA) was extraordinarily successful, with over $3,200,000 raised - thank you!  Again, I am most grateful for your collaboration in this important annual endeavor. With your help and leadership, the Bishop's Ministry Appeal will continue to be successful.

Queremos agradecerles por sus generosas y sentidas donaciones a la BMA 2024. ¡Con su apoyo, superamos nuestra meta de BMA para 2024 en $33,024, que la diócesis ha reembolsado a nuestra parroquia!
